How to play Moonbound

The RPG built into clawstorm_'s stream. Create a character, level up just by hanging out, find weird everyday loot, and team up with chat to beat bosses.

Joining

Redeem Create a Character with channel points. It asks for your favorite food. Trust us, it matters. That's it: you start at level 1, and your progress is saved for good.

Leveling up

You earn XP just by being in chat while the stream is live, even if you only lurk. Chatting helps a little, but spamming doesn't help more.

Check in every stream with the Level Up reward. It's your biggest steady XP boost.
Keep a streak. Every stream in a row you check in gives you more XP on everything, up to +50%. Miss one and it starts over.
Be First! The first person to redeem First! after the stream starts gets a big bonus. Only one person per stream.
Each level takes a bit more XP than the last, and every level makes your character stronger.

Channel point rewards

If a reward can't be used, like a second Level Up in the same stream, your points come back automatically.

Chests

A chest shows up about once an hour. Type !open within 30 seconds and you get loot. There's no race to be first. Help beat a boss and its chest is yours automatically.

Loot is the stuff of everyday life. Some of it is surprisingly powerful. Some of it is just weird.

Bosses

Bosses appear during hype trains and whenever clawstorm_ feels like it. They're drawn from the most relentless annoyances of modern life.

Type !startattack (or just !attack) and your character fights on its own for 30 seconds. Type it again to keep going.
Subs (including Prime and gifted), bits and tips hit much harder.
The more people join, the tougher the boss gets. You'll see it power up.
Beat it before the timer runs out and the whole party earns XP, with a bonus for whoever did the most damage.
Let one of clawstorm_'s bosses get away and there's a price: no chests for the next hour, unless chat wins the next fight.

Your character

Your character has four stats. Leveling up raises them, and so does the right gear.

OffenseHow hard you hit bosses

GutsHow often you land a critical hit for double damage

LuckHow often chests give you something special

SpeedHow fast you hit during a fight

As you reach higher levels you unlock skills that kick in on their own during fights. What they are is for you to find out.

Chat commands

!stats shows your character on stream: level, XP to the next level, stats, gear and streak.
!open claims loot when a chest appears.
!startattack or !attack fights during a boss.
